The water damage must have been from running outside in the rain. Okay, none of these answers are helping me at all. I've been experiencing the same.

I've only been getting this specific problem lately; whenever I try to enjoy audio from my laptop (HP Pavilion 15-n271ea I think, a64) with my headphones (3.5mm jack port, Sony) the sound performs through my speakers and not my headphones. This would take place before (with audió playing through thé headphones simply because nicely as the spéakers) but would generally be resolved if I restarted my laptop; no like luck right now.
